It splits and my hands turned blue/green from the cheap dye that was used. The book is real clear and easy to follow but the yarn in the kit to work with is HORRIBLE. Tip: see if you can get the book without the kit since the kit is not worth a penny. Since I am a knitter I wanted to learn crocheting too. Bought this book that comes with a kit with yarn, hook etc.
Highly recommend if you are wanting to learn how to crochet. Also some really cute patterns. Great book if you are starting out crocheting. Lots of step by step illustrations of the different stitches.
My 12 year old daughter has followed the patterns as well and has successfully completed several projects without any help. The accesories are great too. The Klutz crochet book makes learning to crochet fun and simple. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to learn. The kit includes stitch markers, a little bag, a hook, and fabulous, super-soft yarn. The patterns walk you through step by step and make something that looks complicated very simple. I've made all the projects which are cute and up-to-date.
I go back to it again and again when I can't remember what a certain stitch is called in a pattern. I highly reccommend it for 8 and older. I like the little travel case that came with it as well - it holds plenty of needles. I crochet now & then and just make up my own designs. This book was an excellent refresher and helped me do some patterned projects while traveling in the car.
I picked this up from the kids section of a book store and thought it was perfect. I did all the projects the book had and can't wait to do more crochet projects as now after reading this book the adult beginner books are much easier. I'm 22 years old and currently handicap from a car wreck. It has great instructions and is very easy to follow. I highly suggest this kit for anyone wanting to learn crochet. I've been wanting to learn crochet for years, but never had time. Finally with time on my hands I started looking at beginner books and dvds, but all those adult beginner books didn't seem written for beginners to me.
